Have you ever been lost ?

I have been in Walmart on occasions where they page a parent to come and pick up X child at the information desk who somehow had become lost from the parent. Poor little things are crying and in a panic because they think that maybe their mommy or daddy have gone and left them………you can see the look of joy and relief on their little faces when they spot their parent coming to get them. Sheer bliss !.

Feeling isolated, alone and lost with nowhere to turn is definately not a nice feeling. When this is coupled with a sense of desperation one can only imagine the panick and hopelessness that engulfs you. If you find yourself in this situation who do you page ? who will come to rescue you ?.

A friend of mine had mentioned something she read or heard (can’t remember exactly) about Psalm 3. A passage David wrote while he was on the run ‘again’ this time from his son Absalom.

Psalm 3

1 Lord, how many are my foes! How many rise up against me!

2 Many are saying of me, “God will not deliver him
I can only imagine how David was maybe feeling, betrayed, angry, alone and probably in disbelief that people who once thought so highly of him would now turn on him. What was worse they said God was not with him……..that must have been very painful. As the passage goes on. David cries out and he hope or wonders if his father has heard the page.

As you read on we see that Davids hope is restored as he realises God has never left him, just like that child in Walmart he realises his dad did not forget him but was there all along.

4 I call out to the Lordand he answers me from his holy mountain

5 I lie down and sleep; I wake again, because the Lord sustains me

My doctors did warn me that if i took too long to have my second child i would forget what it was like rasing a toddler “impossible’ I thought at the time, but not only have i forgotten i have also become lazy…..oh yes.
When we had Kyle 12 yrs ago we did everything by the book and were excited and overjoyed when we taught him to identify things like ‘dog, shark, Flamingo etc. Now I just lump Wolf, Hyenas and Foxes and tell my now 2 yo ‘Dog, say dog baby’, and Sharks, Dolphin and Whales are all now just‘Fish’. Kyle has taken this offence quite seriously and has taken it upon himself to teach his younger sibling the correct names. In my defence I explained I didn’t want to overload poor Kale brain (that’s my story and I’m sticking with it) my mother did warn me that “ole people nuffi have pickney cause yuh caan keep up wid dem”. So now I’m meeting my waterloo as the saying goes.

Now like most toddlers my 2 yo has a specific program that seems to mesmerize him on tv…the lotto and numbers games draw is his fascination. Whenever the program comes on he stands in cheer awe watching…..I have assumed it must be the balls popping up out of the machine that fascinates him so.
Fast forward to a couple of days ago when Kyle was going through counting with his brother in the usual sing-song way:
Kyle: 1
Kale: 2
Kyle: 3
Kale: 4
and they went on to 10 (the maximum he can count to now, or so we thought). After saying ten we suddenly heard Kale shout 32, 17 !!…..in the way you would announce winning numbers. Well at least he is learning something

who says tv isn’t educational.
